Alex murchison for governor

Why not vote for a regular guy for a change?

To my followers and supporters, family and friends alike, I'm afraid I have some bad news. Due to personal reasons, I am withdrawing from the 2026 Maine Gubernatorial race as of 3/13/2026.

Rather than get into the why's and the how's I'd prefer to focus on the positives. This was an interesting experience to say the least. I learned a great deal about the the process, my competitors, and the nature of the race itself. There may be 20 people running for this office, but I do hope that nearer the end the half dozen good eggs continue on to the General Election. I have met good people on all sides of the spectrum and hold no ill will towards those I disagree with or whom disagree with me.

I find it's not my place to endorse any one candidate over the other. I would always encourage a consideration of the third part first and foremost due to the more bipartisan nature of their positions, but having spent time with both sides of the aisle I can say that there are good options throughout.

Should my former competitors see this note, please consider taking a passing glance at my policies I had intended to champion. There are many worthy causes that you'll no-doubt come across as you move forward with your campaigns, and for one among you, who'll find them throughout your tenure as Maine's next governor. Perhaps it is selfish to encourage you to look at mine, but I feel that its in the interest of your constituents, the people of Maine, that you explore all possible solutions to the trials you'll face as our leader. I even intend to leave the site up and the hotline number and email active for a time if you'd like to pick my brain about a few ideas.

A request, if I may, as I wrap this farewell up. Please make this race not about petty rivalry between party lines, but about highlighting what makes Maine great, what could improve the state as a whole, what could make the lives of all citizens better, and do so with a sense of decorum that I find modern politics lacking in these days. Also, feel free to cut through some red tape and un-bureaucracize the needlessly complicated for me. Anyone can be a leader, but someone who makes a difference is hard to come by.

Maybe I'll give this all another go in 4 years, but until then, I wish everyone well and hope you all embrace some positive change this time around.

Best,

Alex Murchison
